Aut camp - february 12 - 14th

Prefect camp started on the 12th of February and lasted for three days. In those 3 days we all bonded and sorted out our goals for the year. Our first day was very eventful, we discovered that we werent the only school (Kelston Boys and Tamaki joined us)and we got to run around the city on a scavenger hunt which involved us busking, finding the police, taking individual photos and advertising AUT. After this eventful morning it was over to the North Shore campus where we introduced ourselves too many times to count and played team bonding games. Once we were worn out it was back to AUT for dinner then across Queen Street to our accomodation, YouthTown. We had a few hours free time which was spent gossiping and meeting a few kelston guys (who were staying back at AUT) until it was time for sleep, although it was a very disrupted, short sleep.

The next day we got up at around 6.30am. The day was spent planning our year; we split into groups which would focus on different areas in the school. We had a few different people come by to talk to us, including people from ANZ who talked about budgeting, Gay who talked about communication and Shayne who talked about balance. This was an information overload for most of us, and we were all glad when it was dinner. AUT decided that kelston and rutherford wernt mixing enough and so they made us sit in the pattern of rutherford-kelston-rutherford, as most of our prefects are females this was of great excitement to many of the kelston guys. in hardly any time at all the room was filled with laughter. After our dinner we had a meeting with Mr Moore, Ms Nepe and Mr Coughlan in which we asked a lot of questions about the year. After this it was once again it was back over to YouthTown, were most of the kelston boys were waiting for more socialising.  At 10 all the kelston boys were gone and it was time to try get to sleep, im glad to say that we got more sleep than the night before.

At 5.30 we got up and started packing, we were to get out of the building at 6.45. We then caught taxis organised by AUT (which we paid for) and had breakfast. After this it was over to the north shore campus for some training. police training. we had the opportunity to jump over walls, through windows and push ourselves physically. We then did more buisness planning until it was back out to play games with the kelston and tamiki students. After getting a bit wet it was time for farewells.

This camp was a great experience for all of us and it has set us up for the year. Thankyou to AUT, Mr Moore, Mr Coughlan, Mr Sizer, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Reid, Ms Nepe, Calum, Patrick and Jacqueline for helping with this camp.
