Ex-Student Scores In Computer Programming Champs |
|
Former Rutherford College student and Dux Andrew Olsen has won a bronze medal after competing in the 2007 ACM World Finals in computer programming.
Andrew, along with two other fellow students represented New Zealand as Team CIA. They claimed bronze for coming third in the Asia Pacific region at the
contest. Overall, the team were ranked 11th in the world. With only 88 finalists being chosen from over 6000 teams from regional competitions, this makes their achievement all the more outstanding.
Team CIA were named New Zealand champions at the ACM South Pacific
Programming Contest in September, and from there they headed off to Tokyo Bay to represent the country at the
ACM International Collegiate Programming World Finals on
15 March.
ACM’s International Collegiate Programming Contest
is the world's most prestigious university competition in computing
sciences and engineering. Congratulations to Andrew on this magnificant accomplishment!
