Studio Show

'Catch Me If You Can' - 7.00pm, Tuesday 6 June - Thursday 8 June 2006 in the Hall

The first studio show for 2006 is coming up this week! The theatre (Room 90) may be gone, but that hasn't stopped the long Rutherford tradition from continuing at its new location in the hall!

The approx. two hour show will feature music performances, dances, skits, and a special performance by the Bring It On crew, fresh from their recent performance in the Bring It On Westside Regional Competition!

Tickets are $5.00 each and are available during interval and lunchtime from Music Room 9 each day leading up to the shows.

About the Studio Show

The Studio Show is Rutherford's version of a variety show, and in fact started off as the Variety Show in 1980. Over the last 26 years it has grown and evolved into a show unique to Rutherford, showcasing some of the school's finest in performing arts.

The show is a good opportunity for performing arts students to perform as part of their NCEA assessments, as well as show the local community what they have been working hard lately. Many original dances, and original music has been performed, showing just how talented Rutherford students are.

The Studio Show has been held in Room 90, or the theatre throughout its time, until the theatre was demolished to make way for the new Information Commons at the end of 2005. 2006 will see the Studio Show being held in the hall for the first time, and some of the best performances will go on tour, visiting a few of the nearby schools.

How to Get Involved

The performing arts department are always keen on giving students the chance to perform. If you have one of the following that you'd like to perform:

- Musical item (e.g. piano solo, voice, guitar, etc.)

- Dance (either by yourself or as a group)

- Drama (e.g. an excerpt from a play, a short skit, etc)

Talk to Mrs Klaassen (KL), Mrs Faaea or one of the performing arts department staff in their office.

The programme for the upcoming show 'Catch Me If You Can' has been finalised, but there will be another Studio Show later in the year.
